A woofy welcome to the home of Lucky Dog
Lucky Dog Theatre Productions officially launched in October 2012 after eight months of preparation. We took Tom McGrath's 'Laurel and Hardy' to the Brighton Media Centre as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival in 2013. After a sell-out show and a sea of five-star reviews, we have been touring our own show, 'Hats Off To Laurel & Hardy' to delighted clients and audiences in arts centres and rural venues throughout the country since September 2013, as well as performing various routines, songs, dances and sketches for private bookings including care homes. Bookings are always open, including our respected historical shows 'Mr Merrick, The Elephant Man', 'Jack The Ripper: Facts, No Fiction', 'Bethnal Green', 'I, Stan, Before You' as well as our family shows 'The Laurel & Hardy Cabaret', 'The Red Balloon' and 'The Lucky And Ducky Show'.
Lucky Dog is a professional theatre company formed by friends who met via Pranksters Theatre Company in Guildford, Surrey. We believe that the message in our plays, and the enjoyment it brings to people, is more important than getting rich. We do it because we enjoy it, and because we can. Not lookalikes or impersonators, we are - we believe - the only Laurel and Hardy re-enactors in the world. Highly respected amongst historians and enthusiasts of the subjects we have presented shows about, we have also performed in Los Angeles, Ireland, Prague and twice in Germany.
The company have been fortunate enough to have played to several celebrity audiences, some of whom are now followers of Lucky Dog. These include: Chris Addison, Danny Baker, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Paul Daniels & Debbie McGee, Martin Freeman, Dean Friedman, Graeme Garden, Kerry Godliman, Jeffrey Holland, Matthew Horne, Robin Ince, Neil Innes, Sir David Jason, Terry Jones, Don MacLean, Sylvester McCoy, Bill Oddie, Vic Reeves, David Schneider, Chris Searle, Duke Special, Johnny Vegas, Rick Wakeman and Victoria Wood.
